Tim and the teacher

Australian cricket captain Tim Paine grew up next door to Dave Watkins in Bambra Street, Lauderdale.

Dave, a retired teacher and sporting legend himself, nurtured a young Tim many years ago spending countless hours in his backyard trying to bowl him out.

Dave could see from an early age that Tim had talent and lent him a cricket bat to improve his style.

Unfortunately that cricket bat was not prepared for the workout that Tim gave it and it was returned to Dave broken!

Decades later Tim has repaid Dave by presenting him with a signed bat and inviting him to the Australia Vs New Zealand, Third Test at the SCG as his special guest.

Well done Watto!   All at Cremorne are happy for you.  Enjoy your cricket, just don’t make a habit of it, we need you back on the bowling green.
